What did you want to be when you grew up and what was your first job?
There was no particular job I aspired to whilst growing up. All I was certain of was that I wanted to work in the science and technology industry. It seemed to be an exciting futurist career area to get into.
My first job was as Systems Integrator for BT, designing BTs next generation Intelligent Networks.
Who was the biggest influence in your career?
On reflection, it was my parents. They instilled the belief that you should always break out of the box or label others put on you and to have a strong work ethic, no matter what your starting point, background in life, you can achieve your goals no matter what.
Who do you admire and why?
I admire the free thinkers and the game changes. Those that are always seeing the world in terms of possibilities and not being downtrodden by the status quo. I really admire their ability to innovate continually and think outside the box.
I also admire the millennials, the digital native generation, who see the world full of digital possibilities. This is so refreshing and uplifting.
What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?
Technical skills combined equally with communications skills. Being able to communicate, empathise and work collaboratively to find technical solutions are vital modern days skills needed in any industry
What do you value most about being a BCS member?

Resilient. Confident. Driven
