Kent branch: Venues
Here are the venue details for events held by the Kent branch.
Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU)
Meetings take place in the Verena Holmes building at the North Holmes Road campus. The postcode is CT1 1QB.
The location can be seen on the campus map.
On arrival, enter the main foyer, where everyone gathers before the meeting, which takes place in the adjacent lecture theatre (room VH.0.04). There are no stairs involved. Walk round to the right of the lecture theatre to access the (unisex) toilets.
The building can be approached from the A257 (Longport/St. Martin’s Hill), but there is no parking on this side of the campus. The entrance is a short walk from the Longport public car park, and is marked as the Old Sessions House entrance. Walk in and bear to the left; go past Old Sessions House and you will see the Verena Holmes building in front of you.
You can also approach from North Holmes Road; be warned that, maps notwithstanding, there is only one way to get there. Use Longport (in the other direction) or Lady Wootton’s Green to enter Monastery Street, continuing in a northerly direction. Turn right into Havelock Street at the end, then right into North Holmes Road. There are several gates on the right-hand side, but you should only use Gate 4.
There is on-street parking; some is free, and some is paid, so check the signs. You can also drive into gate 4, and then turn right into a car park; this is available to you, all the way down to Gate 1. It is known as the Red car park, although this is rarely mentioned on signs or maps (but if asking anyone, the name is useful).
Once parked, enter the main reception at Gate 4. Turn left, go up a few steps (or a ramp) and turn right, leaving the building by the adjacent door to reach a grassed over area. Walk straight ahead and you will see a ramp at the far end; this will lead directly to an entrance to the Verena Holmes building.
