Bristol and Bath branch: Committee
Here are the members of the Bristol and Bath branch committee.
Dave Donaghy (Chair)
Dave chairs the Branch, holding a number of roles across various member groups within BCS. He is currently the Vice-Chair and Volunteer Coordination Officer of the Digital Divide Specialist Group, and the Inclusion Officer of the Pride Specialist Group.
He has previously volunteered for BCS as a Councillor and on Trustee Board, he was recently re-elected to Council for a 3-year term. Outside of BCS, he has also volunteered as a trustee of a hospital charity in Bath and is currently a school governor there.
Dave has worked in Bristol and Bath as a software engineer for almost 30 years, and is currently at Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Bristol, where he works closely with apprentices and early career professionals.
Adam Scott MBCS (Vice-Chair)
Adam is an accomplished IT leader with over 15 years of experience driving cloud adoption strategies and digital transformation initiatives. As Director of Cloud and Transformation at Tata Consultancy Services, he leads engagements with C-level executives at major healthcare, life sciences, energy, and utilities enterprises.
Known for his passion for technology, Adam has driven major modernisation initiatives across industries. With strengths in long-range strategy planning, solution architecture, and governance, he advises senior leaders and stakeholders on how digital capabilities can increase efficiency, reduce costs, and unlock new revenue opportunities.
Outside of the office, Adam is a keen yacht skipper and part of the Royal Air Force Sailing Association yacht racing team. He also enjoys rambling across the Dorset countryside with his son, often combined with a visit to a cozy local pub. Appreciating the power of music to inspire, he relaxes to scores of movie composers including Hans Zimmer and Thomas Newman.
Suner Syuleyman (Secretary)
Suner is an ambitious and energetic engineer, with keen interest in Infrastructure, DevOps and Cybersecurity. He has been working in this field for the past 8 years and has spent this time wearing many hats.
Suner is passionate about learning and development and keen to help mentor and grow the next generation of IT professionals.
He is currently involved with BCS as Secretary of Bristol and Bath, as well as a regular attendee and volunteer for many events. He has been living in Bristol since 2011 and is happy to see the development in this area over this period.
He is happy to see new volunteers joining and looking forward to organising many interesting events!
Christopher Charlton (Treasurer)
Chris joined the Bristol and Bath branch committee as Treasurer in 2017.
He works in the School of Education at the University of Bristol where he currently holds the role of Senior Software Engineer.
As treasurer, he helps the branch stay on track financially and allocate funds that allow us to make a difference in the local area.
Alex Withers MBCS (Education Liaison Officer / Skills Based Volunteering Lead)
Alex is currently Head of Technology at Shine, a coaching and wraparound care provider based in the Southwest, Shine delivers PE lessons, After School Clubs, and Holiday Clubs, offering a diverse range of sports, creative & technology activities using market leading technology.
Alex started his career as an Apprentice in 2015 at a Secondary school, before moving onto a Managed Service Provider to continue his apprenticeship in 2016, where he had continued making a thriving career for himself, steadily climbing the ranks through dedication, hard work, and passion.
Alex is also a Trustee of a Youth Mental Health Charity based in Warwickshire, called Young Minds Matter, which offers 1-1 mentoring to under 25s in schools to help build mental resilience.
As a member of this committee, he aims to help promote STEM into schools across Bristol and Bath, to help inspire the next generation of IT professionals and ensure BCS remains a supportive and collaborative support network for IT professionals.
Whilst also leading on the skill based volunteering to help connect IT professionals into nonprofits, to allow IT professionals to use their skill / knowledge to help charities / non profits take advantage of technology.
