CITP

Roles and criteria for volunteer assessors:

  • To carry out the initial review of applications

You must have been awarded registration or revalidated your registration within the previous 5 years to join the Register of Membership Assessors to assess applications for CITP.

Requirement to apply for this role

  • Membership of BCS and current CITP registration
  • Experience of managing people preferably including interviewing for appraisals and recruitment
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Experience & skill set

You will need experience of managing people, experience in interviewing for appraisals and recruitment and have well developed communication and inter-personal skills. You will have a commitment to your profession; perhaps you are a natural mentor or coach.

Role summary

The number of initial application reviews you undertake will be dictated by your availability.

Initial application reviews:
CITP assessors carry out a remote assessment of the CV and written application provided by the applicant.

Each initial review is expected to take less than 1 hour.

Telephone Discussions:
From time to time assessors are required to carry out telephone discussions with applicants and / or supporters to clarify specific points raised in the initial review of their application.

Engineering Council

Assesses for Chartered Engineer and Incorporated Engineer.

2 roles:

  • Application reviewer: synopsis and technical reports
  • To join with a fellow assessor to conduct Peer Review interviews

Requirement to apply for this role

  • Membership of BCS and CEng or IEng - registration
  • Experience of managing people preferably including interviewing for appraisals and recruitment
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Experience & skill set

You will typically be an experienced people manager, practised at interviewing techniques, appraisals and recruitment. You will have a commitment to your profession, perhaps a natural mentor or coach, and will have well developed behavioural, communication and inter-personal skills.

You will possess good organisational and time management skills.

You will be assessed against each of the criteria below as to how you meet the requirements of the assessor role:

  • Professional scope
  • People Management
  • Motivation
  • Capacity to perform the role

A familiarity with remote on-line software suites would be beneficial however is not mandatory as full training is provided.

Role summary

Interviews:
Time allocated to each interview = 2 hours
Ideally 1-3 online interviews per month.

Written submission assessments:
1 to 4 application reviews per week dictated by your availability.

Webcam and headset required.

Documentation Reviews:
The other element of the assessor role is application / documentation reviews which are carried out remotely.

Telephone Discussions:
From time to time assessors are required to carry out telephone discussions with applicants and / or supporters to clarify specific points around their application.

Fellowship

Assesses for FBCS.

  • Application reviewer

CCP Scheme

Assesses for CCP scheme

This is a commercial scheme and as such a fee will be paid per written submission assessment and interview. You will be required to sign (1) an assessor agreement with BCS, (2) an NDA and (3) a DOI. The fees payable can be requested upon application.

3 roles:

  • Written submission assessments reviewer IA specialist
  • Written submission assessments reviewer SFIA specialist
  • Interviewer IA specialist / SFIA specialist
    • You may meet the requirements for both the IA and SFIA specialist roles above, however SFIA training can be provided

Requirements for the role

  • BCS CCP registered. Apply online
  • SFIA knowledge (training will be provided)

For the reviewer role: You will typically have been practising for at least 3 years in your specialism.

You will possess good organisational and time management skills.

You will be assessed against each of the criteria below as to how you meet the requirements of the assessor role:

A familiarity with remote online software suites would be beneficial however is not mandatory as full training is provided.

Role summary

  • Interviews:
    Time allocated to each interview 1-2 hours (will usually take place online using remote software). Webcam, headset and Flash required.
  • Written submission assessments:
    Max 3 to 4 application reviews per week dictated by your availability.

Your application will be reviewed by a Selection Committee and if approved you will be invited to undertake our training programme which, if successfully completed will qualify you as an Approved Assessor.

FEDIP

The standards for FEDIP registration have been developed and will be presented to the FEDIP Registration and Standards Committee for ratification on 18 October 2017. Approval at the RSC will see the standards and register launched as of January 2018 and in order to deliver against this deadline requires a Pool of assessors capable of making judgements against these standards. Consequently, BCS needs to acquire and develop a pool of assessors for FEDIP Registration assessments.

Requirement to apply for this role

Applications will be considered from BCS members at Professional membership level and above.

Experience and skill set

ESSENTIAL: Experienced within a Health and Care Informatics role. You will have a commitment to your profession, perhaps a natural mentor or coach, and will have well developed behavioural, communication and inter-personal skills.

DESIRABLE: Practiced at interviewing techniques, appraisals and recruitment. You will possess good organisational and time management skills.

Volunteers are requested to provide the following information:

  1. A Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. A short statement as to why they would wish to be an assessor.
  3. Any experience they may have with assessment (interviewing skills, performance reviews etc..).

From time to time assessors are required to carry out telephone discussions or interviews with applicants and / or supporters to clarify specific points around their application.

Advanced RITTech

RITTech Advanced assessors carry out a remote assessment of the application.
