What is RITTech and why is it important?

Advanced RITTech is the mark of a highly skilled, trusted tech professional. It independently verifies your ability to tackle complex technical challenges, lead projects and communicate effectively with both technical teams and stakeholders—all while upholding high ethical standards.

Once registered, you can use ‘Adv RITTech’ after your name and appear on the public Advanced RITTech register—taking you a step closer to becoming fully chartered.

How to apply for Advanced RITTech

1. Become a member

To apply for Advanced RITTech registration with BCS, you’ll need to be a member at Professional (MBCS) grade or above.

2. Choose your application route

There are two ways you can apply for Advanced RITTech:

✔ accredited route—if you have an Advanced RITTech accredited qualification
✔ experiential route—if you don’t have an Advanced RITTech accredited qualification

3a. Apply via the accredited route

If your qualification is accredited (check here) you’ll just need to add this and your details to your application form.

3b. Apply via the experiential route

If your qualification isn’t accredited, you’ll need to...

✔ review the required competencies and make sure you meet them

✔ get a supporter (e.g. employer, colleague or client) to validate your application

✔ complete the application form which includes six questions to showcase your day-to-day work

4. Submit your application

Submit your application via MyBCS.

A BCS RITTech assessor will review your application within 14 days.

Please note, if a supporter is required (experiential route) we will not review your application until your supporter has approved it.

5. Receive your outcome

We’ll be in touch once your application has been assessed.

Successful? You’ll need to revalidate your status every 3 years with CPD evidence.

Unsuccessful? We’ll provide feedback to help you improve your next application.
