About the speaker

Pete King began his career in the IT industry in 1980 and was seconded to Rutherford Appleton Labs, where he was involved in writing the initial code for Janet Network gateways to auto-update patched operating systems. This early experience led him to a career in debugging core software, exploring ISO-based networks, and eventually diving deeper into the TCP model.

Later, Pete became a global pre-sales and sales trainer for Cisco, then Nortel, before working with Enterasys in the early 2000s, where he ran training on early Intrusion Detection Systems. After a career break to teach at Bath College, Pete returned to the telecoms and cyber industry with a small company based in Cirencester.

Although recently retired, Pete has not fully stepped away from the cyber world and continues to keep an eye on developments in the field.
