About the speaker
Roy Biakpara is a seasoned cybersecurity professional with a rich background in information security and risk management.
He earned his MSc in Information Security from the Information Security Group at Royal Holloway, University of London, in 2008. At points in his career, Roy has worked with top-tier organisations globally, helping them to build robust cybersecurity frameworks. He is currently the global GRC Lead for Gemserv Ltd, an expert provider of professional services, helping clients make the most of a world increasingly driven by data and technology.
Roy is a passionate educator and a recognised thought leader in the GRC space. Roy's contributions to the industry are notable. He was a contributor to the PECB whitepaper titled "The Future of Privacy with ISO/IEC 27701," published in May 2020, which provides guidance on establishing and maintaining a Privacy Information Management System.
He presented “The Science of Privacy” for the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) on December 20, 2022. Additionally, he has shared his insights on various platforms, including an article discussing the postponement of Nigeria's elections. Roy is also known for his thought leadership on social media platforms, where he engages in discussions on topics such as diversity, equity, and inclusion.
On LinkedIn, Roy actively shares his expertise through articles and posts, contributing to discussions on information security, risk management, and industry best practices With a commitment to advancing the field of cybersecurity, Roy continues to share his knowledge and experiences, contributing to the development of robust information security practices.
