Synopsis
In this thought-provoking talk, a critical yet unsettled matter of AI ethics will be discussed as it is becoming a concern believed not to be taken seriously enough by the tech sector.
AI, a neutral tool shaped by human choices, is recognised as offering both immense possibilities and significant risks.
As it is intertwined into every corner of society, from online algorithms to physical robotic systems, the potential for misuse is seen to grow: misinformation is often left unchecked, intellectual property is breached, hate crimes are enabled, and physical harm from unethical robotic automation is a potential risk.
The vital importance of AI ethics will be examined in this talk, with societal implications explored as a shift from cognitive tasks to real-world robotics is undertaken.
Solutions are proposed, with public education advocated, strong ethical safeguards demanded from tech firms, protections for whistleblowers urged, and tougher regulations with real consequences called for to ensure that a balance between innovation and accountability is struck.
Attendees are invited to discover why AI ethics is viewed not merely as a technical matter but as a societal duty, requiring collective effort to ensure AI remains a force for good to society.
