Synopsis

From being inspired by the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and kids using Chat GPT for their homework... All the way to helping the world’s biggest organisations with digital transformation and hacking their own systems before the bad guys do.

In this fireside chat we talk to Emma Logan, KPMG partner and account lead for HM Revenue and Customs, and Jasmine Taylor, senior manager at KPMG in cyber security.

About the speakers

Emma Logan

Emma originally trained as an artist. She then graduated from Manchester University in English Literature and Language. In what might seem like an enormous leap, she started out her career coding COBOL and ABAP at Price Waterhouse. In the early days of what was then known as “The World Wide Web“ she could be found at the innovation centre in Walldorf, Germany – writing the first BAPIs to connect SAP with the internet. Emma has since spent her career helping executives define their enterprise strategies and transform their organisations to be fit for a digitally-enabled future. Emma has worked with a variety of industries, including Broadcast Media, Financial Services and Central Government. She is married to a novelist and screen writer and is the mother of four school-age children. In her spare time she continues to paint portraits and make copies (definitely not forgeries!) of Old Masters.

Jasmine Taylor

Excitingly, Jasmine is getting married this year. Jasmine’s passion is all things dance, music and theatre. She also trained in the arts and almost took a very different career path – think more pirouettes and jazz hands than we have time for on this occasion. She graduated in mathematics and started out on her career in software engineering. Engaged by the thrill of ethical hacking and with a passion for technology as a force for good, Jasmine began her work in cyber security at KPMG where she now leads some of our biggest security testing programmes, helping clients across government and healthcare to better prevent, detect and respond to cyberattack. She finds she is nearly always the most senior woman in the room: only 17% of the cyber security workforce are women. A poster woman for IT’s Her Future – KPMG’s initiative to tackle gender diversity – Jasmine is an up and coming leader in technology and engineering at KPMG.
