The BCS South Yorkshire branch will be holding its annual general meeting after a talk from Dr Gregory Meyers. In his talk, Dr Gregory Meyers will provide a pragmatic exploration of applying artificial intelligence to real-world industrial challenges. Drawing on over a decade of experience developing AI-driven decision support systems across diverse sectors. Gregory will share insights into both the potential and the practical realities of novel AI solutions from his work with companies like Jaguar Land Rover, Sainsbury's and Kraft Heinz, illustrating how AI solutions can be tailored to address specific industrial pain points. Importantly, Gregory will delve into the reasons why promising AI solutions often fail to be adopted.
About the speaker
Dr Gregory Meyers
Dr Gregory Meyers EngD CEng CITP MBCS is the founder of Data Dynamics, a company specializing in developing AI-driven decision support systems. With over a decade of experience in data science and AI systems development, Gregory has applied his expertise across various industries, developing innovative solutions for complex challenges. He holds a doctorate in applied machine learning from the University of Exeter and is a chartered engineer and chartered IT professional. His academic background also includes postdoctoral research positions at the University of Sheffield and Loughborough University. Combining academic rigor with practical industry knowledge, Gregory is passionate about harnessing the power of AI to transform industrial processes and drive innovation. He currently serves as the Secretary of the BCS South Yorkshire branch.
