  • Jo’s career in industrial software as a software engineer, Product Manager, and engineering leader
  • Pivoting focus to the human side of tech and engineering, by retraining with an MSc in organisational psychology – with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in tech and engineering
  • How data about people is a powerful tool, but one that must be wielded responsibly
  • Tech ethics, and particularly AI ethics. The Post Office Horizon scandal highlighted the huge risks of tech, and poor governance of tech solutions. How to understand potential harms and ensure tech that is developed and deployed is beneficial for people

Jo Stansfield - Founder and Director of Inclusioneering Ltd., BCS Women Co-Chair, BCS Trustee, Fellow and Board member of ForHumanity.

Jo Stansfield MBCS FHCA is the Founder and Director of Inclusioneering™, an expert consultancy in inclusive innovation. Drawing on her experience as a former engineer, Jo has helped organisations, from tech startups to global enterprises to research consortia, develop impactful, data-driven strategies for diversity and inclusion. Previously, she served as Director of People Data and Insights at a major FTSE 50 tech company and has provided evidence on inclusion to government committees. Beyond her consultancy, Jo is deeply committed to volunteering. She is a Trustee of the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, co-chair of BCS Women, and a board director for AI ethics charity ForHumanity. She also advises TechUp bootcamps and is a certified auditor for Automated Employment Decision Tools. An engineer turned business psychologist, Jo leverages her technical experience across industry sectors including power, aerospace, and marine to promote a culture of equity in tech, grounded in robust research and real-world understanding.
