About the speaker
Gary Watt
Hi, my name is Gary Watt and I am Counter Fraud Specialist within NHS Scotland Counter Fraud Services. I have been with CFS for the last 10 years and have built up a wealth of experience within the Investigation team.
I have over 15 years’ experience within NHS National Services Scotland which provided me invaluable knowledge and contacts within the Health Service. I am dedicated to combatting fraud within the NHS and recently completed a BSc (Hons) in Counter Fraud and Criminal Justice with the University of Portsmouth.
My day job can be varied within the Investigation team, I am responsible for conducting criminal investigations and establishing whether or not a crime has been committed. Investigations may lead to reports being made to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and recommendations being made to the Health Board to safeguard resources.
I have experience in proactive investigations where measurements after recommended interventions have been made has resulted in significant annual savings.
I have a real passion for what I do and always work hard to ensure every £1 is protected and available for patient care.
