Synopsis
The NCSC’s CyberFirst project aims to support the development of a diverse pipeline of talent into the cyber industry. It does this by working with schools and colleges; inspiring students onto Computing pathways and careers in tech.
In Wales, the project is now delivered by the University of South Wales in partnership with Swansea University and Bangor University, who over the last year have taken the project to new heights, engaging with more students and teachers than ever in Wales.
This is partly due to the success of the CyberFirst ambassador network in Wales – a network of individuals from industry, academia and government who are part of the Welsh cyber eco-system.
The CyberFirst Ambassadors are passionate about the CyberFirst mission, whether that is because they want to inspire students into the same fulfilling careers they have found, or because they want to help reduce skills shortages in the sector. Together, they help to promote CyberFirst across Wales bringing cyber opportunities to as many students as possible.
On top of promoting the CyberFirst project, they offer voluntary hours to support schools with cyber-themed engagements and help with the assessment of the CyberFirst Schools and Colleges award, which aims to raise the profile and standard of Computing and Cyber education in Wales.
