About the speakers
MODERATOR: Nzube Ufodike trained as a computer scientist and today enjoys an active portfolio career as an entrepreneur, investor (angel/VC), model, content creator (TV producer & podcast), and trusted advisor. He is a co-founder of Amoo Angels (founded Q1 2023), a UK based angel network. He also serves as a board member and advisor to early and growth stage businesses in the UK and emerging markets. He is devoted to building better communities through volunteering work in various underrepresented groups (incl. Black, women, LGBTQIA+, and youth). He volunteers as a trustee/board chair/member at The Africa Centre, The British Computer Society Foundation, Queen Mary University of London and the IoD England Emerging NEDs specialist group.
KEYNOTE: Simon Lucas is a full professor of AI in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London where he leads the Game AI Research Group. He was previously Head of School of EECS at QMUL. He recently spent two years as a research scientist / software engineer in the Simulation-Based Testing team at Meta, applying simulation-based AI to automated testing.
Simon was the founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Games and co-founded the IEEE Conference on Games, was VP-Education for the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and has served in many conference chair roles. His research is focused on simulation-based AI (e.g. Monte Carlo Graph Search) and sample efficient optimisation.
Wenmiao Yu is the co-founder and Director of Business Development at Quantum Dice where she focuses on translating scientific innovation into marketable products, and start-up fundraising. She strongly believes in the power of communities, crucial to growing nascent industries such as quantum technologies.
Jon Hammant leads the Compute business for AWS for EMEA, including EC2, Hybrid, HPC, Networking, Autonomous Computing/Autonomous vehicles, Quantum Computing, Framework AI and more. Prior to joining AWS, Jon was Managing Director at Accenture where he led the DevOps and Full Stack Engineering business in the UK, as well as being responsible for the internal Global DevOps Service.
His work was recognized by the Computing magazine in 2020, when he was voted the DevOps Manager of the year for the UK. He is a Fellow of the BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, has a 2:1 in Computer Science from Reading University and received an A in A-Level Computer Science at age 13. He is passionate about diversity/neurodiversity and speaks about the subject regularly to raise awareness in forums, including events/podcasts.
Olu Odeniyi has over 30 years of experience helping organisations maximise commercial gain from technology solutions. He speaks, teaches, and advises on cyber / information security and AI. Olu has worked with Oxford, West London, and Brunel Universities in relation to these subjects. Olu is also a non-executive director, mentor and an active professional member of BCS.
