Synopsis
Bitcoin and NFTs have recently entered our language with accompanying hype and news of scams. But distributed ledger technology, cryptocurrencies and smart contracts powered by decentralised apps could be the future of the web and how we transact and interact with each other, becoming ever more integrated in the Metaverse. This talk will explore the pros, cons and applications of blockchain technology, introducing some of the terminology, and illustrating how it may impact our personal and business lives in the future.
About the speaker
Dr Adrian Burden FIET, FIMMM, FRMS, CEng
Dr Adrian Burden is co-founder and CEO at the certification and blockchain venture BlockMark Technologies Ltd. Previously Adrian co-founded and grew an award-winning high technology anti-counterfeiting solutions company headquartered in Singapore called Singular ID which was later acquired by leading pharmaceutical packaging supplier Bilcare. In 2012 he founded the Malvern Festival of Innovation which grew to become a nationally recognised event showcasing science, technology and entrepreneurship to school students, business professionals and members of the public. Adrian is also an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the School of Metallurgy & Materials at the University of Birmingham and has a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a D.Phil. in Materials Science from the University of Oxford. He was listed as a Maserati 100 Entrepreneur by the Centre for Entrepreneurs in The Sunday Times in February 2015. He is author of the book Start to Exit: How to maximize the value in your start-up, published in October 2017.
