Synopsis
Blockchain and DLT have the potential to disrupt the securitisation market by enhancing transparency and increasing the speed and efficiency of transactions. However, the path to widespread adoption of blockchain and DLT in securitisation transactions has been paved with challenges, including legal and regulatory uncertainty.
In this presentation, Joana will give an overview of how DLT and blockchain are shaping the securitisation market, identify the main hurdles which market participants face when structuring securitisation transactions featuring DLT and blockchain elements and will discuss the path to their widespread adoption.
About the speaker
Joana Fragata
Joana Fragata is a lawyer at Freshfields in London, specialising in securitisation. She has experience advising on a broad range of financing transactions across multiple jurisdictions, with a focus on securitisation transactions involving various asset classes (such as residential mortgages, SME and consumer loans, auto loans and leases and trade receivables). She also regularly provides advice on regulatory aspects of securitisation transactions.
