Synopsis
Skills-based volunteering is about getting BCS members - and, in fact, professional members of organisations other than BCS - involved in volunteering efforts outside BCS by using their professional skills.
This can, ideally, make a bigger difference to charities and other voluntary bodies because of the value of our skills, and we can then hope that they will be more effective at delivering their own goals.
This talk will focus on how BCS member groups can begin working with non-BCS bodies to define and refine the Volunteer Coordination Officer (VCO) role and identify the stakeholders outside BCS to use our skills in this area to Make IT Good for Society.
