Synopsis
There are now opportunities to join and help the BCS EA SG committee because of terms coming to an end and committee members' standing down after several years of service.
About Committee Membership
This is your opportunity to help lead The BCS EASG, and we urge anyone who wants to become involved to put themselves forward. The primary responsibility of committee members is to work together, with excellent support from BCS staff, to create events and working groups that will encourage member engagement and involvement, to promote Architecture for the good of Society, and maybe influence others both within the BCS and externally.
Committee members are elected for a three-year term at which point they must stand down. They can offer themselves re-election at that point. There is no maximum term.
The workload is relatively light: the committee gets together roughly 6 times per year and makes extensive use of virtual meetings which means that you do not have to live in or close to London to serve on the BCS IT Leaders Forum committee.
Officer Roles
Committee members are elected by the BCS EA SG Forum membership to the EASG Committee, not to specific roles within the committee. Officer roles, such as chair, secretary, membership secretary and treasurer, are appointed by the committee members following the committee elections. Only Fellows or Professional Members of the BCS may hold officer roles.
Nominations
Any member of BCS EASG forum can be nominated to stand for the position of Committee member. To nominate yourself, please e-mail a statement of no longer than 25 lines, a photograph of yourself, and the names and contact details of a proposer and seconder (who are also BCS members), to the current chairs Lorne Mitchel or Daljit Banger before Wednesday 1st November 2023 or visit the BCS Volunteer Website.
Voting
Voting will take place at the AGM where we will ask all candidates to introduce themselves and give a brief summary of their background At the AGM, we will ask all candidates to give an introduction to themselves and a bit of background before proceeding to votes.
Successful candidates will be announced, and the current chairs will help transition the new chairs into post.
We look forward to receiving your nomination.
