Synopsis

More and more learners join higher education institutions on degree apprenticeships with a strong emphasis on both on-the-job and off-the-job training, sharing time between lecture theatres and the workplace. In this talk, Dr Malte Ressin, UWL course leader for the degree apprenticeship BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions Professional and higher apprenticeship HECert Data Analysis, will discuss the concept behind apprenticeships in Computing, explaining employer benefits and perspectives as well as requirements on both the workplace and apprentices.

Further, the talk will discuss common challenges during apprenticeship capstone projects which are commonly undertaken at and for the employer.

About the speaker

Dr Malte Ressin

Dr Malte Ressin is a senior lecturer for the School of Computing and Engineering at the University of West London. He is the course leader for the BSc (Hons) Games Technology Course and the BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions Professional degree apprenticeship. Prior to his 14-year stint into academia, he worked as software developer and localization team lead in Germany.
