Synopsis

Over the last few months, Artificial Intelligence has once again taken the world by storm. In the latest of these advances, so called ‘generative AI’ technologies have enabled the creation of software applications such as DALL.E that can take natural language descriptions of scenes and generate realistic images of them, and ChatGPT, which is able to hold meaningful conversations with the user about almost any topic.

In this talk I will give some insight into the AI technologies that underpin these applications. I will also speak from my own experience in building chatbots about the dangers that these generative approaches pose to the ‘uneducated’ user.
