Our speakers will share their experiences and expertise, covering a range of topics such as the different testing career paths available, what employers look for when hiring testers, the importance of mental health and resilience in testing careers, and how to develop and maintain these essential skills.

About the speakers
Andrew Shaw - Editor, The Tester
Andrew is a software tester who has experience in testing web based and desktop software in the geographical, cargo and shipping, and lone worker industries. He focused on the software testing area following a redundancy at the end of 2013 and has not looked back since. He is an advocate of exploratory testing, and has gained experience of manual and automated testing, and continually developing his career as a professional software tester.
He enjoys public speaking about software testing, at networking events and universities, as well as organising events for BCS. He also supports the different BCS Student Chapters and mentors people considering software testing as a career.
Imogen Hopkins-Bell, QA Recruiter, Oscar and Bradley Harper, QA Recruiter, Oscar
Imogen and Bradley are specialist QA recruiters working at Oscar Technology. We both speak to candidates and IT leaders / hiring managers on a daily basis, meaning we have a great understanding of desirable skillsets and salary benchmarks. We’ll be sharing some of our experiences and we’ll be giving you advice on how to land your dream QA role.

Nicola works in quality and software testing and is a dedicated advocate for diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. As a mentor, she supports professionals seeking to advance their careers or transition into tech.
With positions on the BCS and WomenTech Network Councils, and membership of the BCS and the Women's Engineering Society (WES), she champions underrepresented groups in tech.
Nicola is a sought-after speaker and panellist at international events, where she shares her expertise on a wide range of topics, including diversity, women in tech, quality, AI, software testing, and mentorship. Her passion for creating a more inclusive tech industry has made her a respected voice in the community.
Beth Clarke - Deputy Marketing & Communications Secretary, SIGiST
Beth is a Software Tester, Quality & DevOps Specialist, and passionate advocate for getting more women into tech. Beth has held a variety of roles in sectors including Satellite Communications and Energy, and is an advocate of using tech for good and the important role quality plays in all software products. Beth also runs a tech blog where she shares her thoughts on tech, diversity and testing.
Beth enjoys speaking at conferences about technology and testing, and volunteering with organisations like WISE to improve the gender balance in STEM industries. Her dedication and expertise has been recognised by a number of awards, including being included in Computer Weekly's list of Most Influential Women in UK Tech. She is currently working at ROSEN, spearheading their quality and devops practices globally."
