The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and its application in the Global South.

Synopsis
The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is viewed as the next important driver for economic growth and sustainable development; but its application in the global south is often overlooked. Drawing on case studies from the health sector in Ghana, we aim to demonstrate the importance of AI applications in the global south. We conclude that enactment of implementable laws and provision of statutory source of funding enshrined in annual budget will be able to sustain the use of AI for economic growth and sustainable development in the global south.
