Synopsis
A series of challenges are impacting the world of computing today: from the headline grabbing CO2 consumption of companies, through the sustainability of natural resources consumed by the hardware, infrastructure and data centres that support them and finally end user data privacy concerns, ethics, diversity, inclusion and the impact of technology or service on people, places and the planet.
The industry is undergoing scrutiny as never before on the impacts of its technology, which is influencing not only purchasing decisions by consumers, but also investor choices and a company's ability to attract and retain talent. It is not just about organisations but also the individuals within it and the actions that they take.
It's no longer a question of why you should do this as an organisation but when - the industry is waking up to these challenges and the investors, employees, consumers or clients that use, fund or create these services are looking more and more for responsible.computing() providers.
