Synopsis

This talk investigates why we do what we do in terms of falling for scams, clicking on links and being the bane of security professionals everywhere. It also looks at why

businesses get the equation wrong when it comes to training staff in general awareness, what we can do about this and why humour is such a powerful tool.

About the speaker

Ian Murphy

If you’ve never met Ian before, keep tight hold of your valuables! Hailing from Liverpool his failed career as a footballer saw him fall into security with a career that started in the early 90’s in the Ministry of Defence.

He sauntered into the dot com bubble before worming his way into vendorland and a career in pre-sales and product management. Before long he felt the pull of self-employment and entrepreneurship and for the past 15 years he has worked (he uses that term lightly) in many different industries and in many different security roles.

This gives Ian a wide view of the good, the bad and the downright ugly when it comes to helping others increase their cyber savviness. His latest venture, CyberOff, aims to breathe life, fun and entertainment into the cyber security industry with engaging videos, posters and eBooks all with the grand aim of helping others stay safer online.
