SYNOPSIS
The aim of the event is to promote awareness of project assurance and introduce the Measures for Assuring Projects (MfAP) - Tool Kit and examples of its application.
The Tool Kit was developed by a working group of the Association of Project Management (APM) Assurance Special Interest group (SIG) and published as an electronic download by the APM in 2016.
The presentation will include an introduction and outline of the MfAP toolkit and how the toolkit fits within an assurance framework.
The content of the session will describe how it was created and its practical application, which will be illustrated by several case studies, in particular, the experience of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
The event will be interactive, and the audience will be able to share their experiences of assurance.

Hardial Phull
Hardial’s early career was in Banking (Securities and International trade) with HSBC and Lloyds before moving to Project Management in the Civil Engineering sector with Plowman Craven. This role involved the delivery of Infrastructure, Heritage and custom Geomatics solutions predominantly in London though they spanned Nationally and Internationally. Following the economic downturn in the industry around 2009, I commenced a number of roles for various NHS organisations delivering and overseeing ICT infrastructure/system implementation right through to service redesign and transformation.
As Programme Assurance Manager at the WMCA, my role has essentially involved giving comfort to the organisation on the performance of projects across the West Midlands region with a value of approximately £8 Billion up to 2030. A change in role to my current assignment means my remit extends beyond Programme Assurance to include Strategic Risk, Internal Audit, Business Continuity, Insurance and Operational Performance analysis and reporting.
