SYNOPSIS
Ethical issues arising from the development and use of artificial intelligence and big data analytics are widely discussed. Concerns range from privacy, security, bias and discrimination to the political misuse of data, the economic dominance of big internet companies and the use of intelligence weapons in warfare. Based on a number of empirical and conceptual investigations, the EU project SHERPA (www.project-sherpa.eu) has developed a set of guidelines for AI developers, to highlight ethical principles, possible issues and ways to address them.
The aim of the focus group is to gain feedback from developers smart information systems (systems using artificial intelligence and big data) and knowledgeable users regarding the draft recommendations. Your participation will contribute to the development of good practices which underpin ethics and human rights concerning the design and use of smart information systems. The focus group will help the project to understand stakeholder views which can be used to prioritise the recommendations to increase their suitability and likelihood of being implemented, thereby benefiting stakeholders involved in the use of smart information systems.
For information on the SHERPA project please visit our website: https://www.project-sherpa.eu/ Registered participants will be sent a copy of the ethics guidelines approximately one week prior to the focus group.
The focus group will be hosted by the following individuals from De Montfort University in Leicester:
● Prof. B. Stahl
● Prof. L. Brooks
● Dr. N. Bhalla
● Dr. A. Rosemann
