SYNOPSIS
The opportunistic use of computing resources sources from private, academic and public clouds provides an infrastructure to support High-Performance Computing in most general terms. This can then be exploited across many different areas of science, engineering, finance, etc.
This talk will consider HTC and HPC using the PROMINENCE platform developed to provide fusion researchers with access to a range of computing resources derived from cloud facilities, and the critical importance of containers as a way of ensuring that scientific workloads can be run reliably and reproducibly anywhere across the clouds.
