SYNOPSIS
Synopsis: Virtual Fitting is one of the most popular topics during the past 10 years not only in the apparel industry but in research area. The challenges have been gradually solved following new devices and technology appeared in the market. Virtual Fitting not only helps online shopping but also in helping customers in department stores to save time in waiting for the fitting rooms. In this talk, I will firstly introduce the state of the art of Virtual Fitting technologies including different patterns of interaction and representative products. Then Dr Xiaohui Tan will describe our work on modelling personalized 3D body and cloth simulation. Finally, Dr Xiaohui Tan will discuss the challenges and possible research opportunities in Virtual Fitting Technology.

Dr Xiaosong Yang will give a brief introduction about the application of personalised human modelling technique in the recently funded HEIF6 project (2020-2022) “Neuravatar: Integrated augmented reality platform for medical education”. The primary aim of the project is to develop a medical teaching platform that provides an anatomically correct three-dimensional teaching tool using virtual reality and mixed reality. This will facilitate a deeper understanding of the human body in real individuals. The platform will be developed to allow immersion in a range of clinical scenarios and provide virtual training for students to supplement live clinical experience. Future developments of the platform will include decision support tools, case recording and data analytics tools to support machine learning and personalised actionable analytics.”
