Synopsis
We have an interesting and varied programme for our first Preston & District Branch event in a while. Our main speaker is Kevin Rigotti, who will tell us about his research at UCLan into Agile UX practice and the fascinating Interaction Discovery research project.
Age UK Blackburn with Darwen recently launched a new service, Think Digital, to support people within the community to use digital technology to keep in touch with family and friends, shop online, or pursue hobbies and interests. We'll hear how we can support the service by becoming a digital champion to provide assistance by telephone for individuals who need support with technology.
We'll round the evening off with a look at the views of the Preston & District Branch members, sharing the main messages from the recent members' survey. If you are a Branch member and haven't already participated in the survey, please take just five mins to let us hear your views.
About the speakers
Kevin Rigotti started his career designing algorithms for computer-assisted Air Traffic Control and measuring the effect on problem solving workload. Analysis work on collision avoidance and mission systems in fast jets led to a job reviewing flight test evidence and giving advice on risk mitigations. Pondering why really smart people still produce products that do surprising things provided the motivation for a masters degree in User Experience Design at UCLan, and was the starting point for his current PhD research.
John Verity has many years' experience enabling digital inclusion through charities. John is the Digital Inclusion Development Manager at Age UK, Blackburn with Darwen.
