SYNOPSIS
Quantum Technologies, including quantum computing and simulation, are potentially one of the most disrupting technologies ever. It is predicted to have the power to solve problems that are almost beyond our imagination. The UK has long held a leading scientific position in this field and since 2014 has operated a national UK Quantum Technologies programme with a mission to make the UK a ‘go-to’ place for the development and commercialisation of quantum technologies.
In this talk, Evert will give an overview of the UK QT Programme’s activities in quantum computing, and its status relative to other developments around the world. He will describe the opportunity for the UK to be the global leader by building the first generation of useable quantum computers and create the opportunity to develop a leading community of developers and users in business, science and services.
