This December, South Wales Branch have organised a family friendly festive event to which you can bring your children, grandchildren, spouse and friends!
The aim is that everyone attending has some fun and enjoys the experience, of course. The second, is that members can share and develop a passion for what we in the branch have been doing to promote the use of robots in STEM and encourage those who are keen to learn more to help participate in future events and deliver the message to society as a whole, ‘making IT good for society’.
A buffet with a Christmas theme will be available from 18:30. There will be a short presentation at 19:00 showing the types of activities undertaken to date and an opportunity for you to express your thoughts and ideas, find out how you can learn more and be a part of these activities. After the presentation there will be robot demonstrations and hands-on programming activities that will run until close.
The branch will have a number of robots demonstrating the use of sensors and motors under program control that will interact with the audience, do some twirls, find and recover a parcel, to name just a few. We will have a robot that you the audience will program, with a few guiding hints from the branch. We’ll also have a display showing you how the software that comes with these robots can be used in schools to support the school curriculum.
