Ansible is rapidly gaining popularity as the automation and configuration tool of choice, especially for DevOps. In contrast to other longer established tools, it is lightweight, easy to deploy, easier to learn, needs no dedicated server and no client agent installation. The only core requirements are Python and ssh connectivity to target hosts. It is thus much better suited to the creation, configuration and deployment of Docker containers, transient and immutable infrastructure ("cattle not pets"), as opposed to the maintenance of state on long running VMs or physical hardware, although it can be used for that as well.
To show how easy it is to use, Andrew will show and demonstrate how he has used Ansible to manage DNS and reverse proxy servers (implemented using Raspberry Pis) on his home network.
