Overview
A digital forensic technician will be expected to:
- Problem solve and prioritise their time effectively.
- Utilise digital forensic capture tools.
- Ensure all data handling meets the requirements of General Data Protection Regulations, the Data Protection Act and appropriate forensic legislation.
- Work to local or national standard operating procedures and quality standards.
- Produce notes to an evidential standard that would support witness statements or report writing.
- Take all reasonable steps to maintain and develop professional competence, taking account of material research and developments within the relevant field.
Aims and objectives
This standard aims to provide the apprentice with all necessary resources to successfully learn, practice, and complete the skills highlighted as imperative for performing roles such as: Data Forensic Technician, Digital Evidence Technician and Digital Forensic Technician.
As part of this standard, the apprentices will need to successfully complete 2 assessment methods: An observation and a professional discussion.
