We are now recruiting for a Communications Executive to join our Membership Marketing team, on a 12-month fixed-term contract, working full-time, at least one day in our Swindon offices located on key transport links in the town centre, and the rest of the week remotely.

About the role

The Communications Executive will be responsible for the delivery and performance monitoring of integrated marketing communications. The role will support BCS Institute customer acquisition and retention marketing strategy across our full range of membership and enterprise products and services.

The communications executive will have and actively use their excellent copywriting skills to express the BCS tone of voice that seeks to be informed, witty and supportive to all our stakeholders.

Ensuring activities are aligned to the BCS brand purpose and guidelines, the communications executive will support the development and delivery of the Membership Marketing Strategy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Institute business area offering, customers and market.
  • Implement marketing plans that are delivered via multiple channels, to build awareness, generate sales, increase customer engagement and retention, and meet the strategic needs of the Institute and its customers. Ensure all communications messaging supports the overarching brand message and campaign themes.
  • Acquisition and retention communications activity to promote BCS professional registrations and Digital T Levels to employers, colleges and individuals.
  • Project management of identified events to support marketing objectives.
  • Create communications using CRM solutions including but not limited to Salesforce and HubSpot. Being able to code using HTML 5 would be advantageous.
  • Ensure all communications are GDPR compliant.
  • User Experience (UX) to optimise customer journeys.
  • Engage and liaise with relevant stakeholders to gather information to inform content creation, audience messaging and timeframes for delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider Marketing teams to communicate plans and objectives, developing bespoke briefs when required. Discuss and agree where internal marketing resources can support with execution services, how they can best deliver against requirements; and the resources required.
  • External programme partnership relationship management to ensure all agreed initiatives are delivered on time and in budget.
  • Develop strong working relationships with BCS teams across the business; in particular those with a strong dependency on the success of marketing activity.

Who are we looking for?

Education and qualifications
  • Membership of a Professional Body (e.g. CIM, IDM) or equivalent.
  • Attained a professional qualification in marketing (or marketing degree equivalent).
  • A level qualified in any subjects or equivalent.
Experience
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing communications.
  • Demonstrable experience of content writing and delivery using a range of communications techniques and technology including social media and web-based technology.
  • Experience in using CRM systems including Hubspot and Salesforce.
  • Experience in using campaign management systems including Asana, Monday.com etc.
  • Experience in using marketing platform technologies including: Canva, Hootsuite, SEMRush, Meta, X, etc.
  • Experience in delivering events.
  • Proven experience of delivering project goals and identifying communication channels that work for specific business objectives as well as targeting defined key audiences.
  • Practical experience of cost/budget control.

  • Up to date with digital marketing techniques and marketing developments.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR and how to apply it in marketing communications.
  • In-depth knowledge of the company's products, who buys them and why.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation around Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, Advertising Standards Codes of practice, Cookie Law etc.
Special conditions
  • Some travel in the UK/internationally with the occasional overnight stay and out of hours working, including attending events and presentations.
