We are recruiting for an Apprenticeship Quality Assurance Manager to join our Product team, in a permanent, full-time capacity.

About the role

The key responsibilities for this role:

  • Maintain the highest levels of internal quality assurance for assessment in line with BCS’ regulatory obligations
  • Support customers (providers, apprentices and employers) to ensure their interactions with BCS in relation to assessment are positive

The role is central to BCS’ ongoing strategic objective to be an Awarding Organisation of choice delivering ‘best in class’ assessment products and assessment that is accurate, consistent and fair.

The role requires close collaboration across the BCS L&D team including those in quality, product, assessment and sales, and across the wider business, and is a critical link in ensuring opportunities to improve customer experience are communicated back using established channels.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of each of the apprenticeship assessments delivered by BCS.
  • Provide insight and guidance on the assessment requirements of apprenticeship assessments that are added to BCS’ product portfolio, from a quality perspective.
  • Apply insight and guidance on assessment and quality matters, based on understanding the General Conditions of Recognition.
  • Provide feedback from customers, using established procedures, to help improve the assessment products and processes.
  • Maintain excellent understanding and practice, in complying with quality and regulatory demands.
  • Keep the moderation and standardisation process used by BCS under review to ensure it is both compliant from a regulatory perspective, and delivers the best outcome for apprentices.
  • Work with the full-time assessor team to agree and implement necessary improvements to apprenticeship moderation and standardisation to ensure BCS’ delivery is compliant in line with regulatory obligations.
  • Work with the full-time assessor team to maintain the professional conduct of all assessors (full time and associate), and ensure that the process to satisfy requirements for their continuous professional development are maintained.
  • Support the training and onboarding of new assessors / associate assessors and other team members to ensure that assessment is undertaken compliantly in line with regulatory obligations.
  • Work with the relevant team to ensure that issues identified within a published (or in development) apprenticeship assessment plan are recorded and reported to the relevant external organisation(s) using the appropriate channels.
  • Assist the product team in its development and maintenance of useful and compliant guidance to support training providers, employers and apprentices’ understanding of assessment.
  • Proactively minimise complaints and appeals by ensuring quality processes are adhered to and taking early interventions where issues / potential issues are apparent.
  • Keep up to date with policy and regulatory changes that may have an impact on assessment quality, sharing with the relevant members of the wider BCS team.
  • Liaise with the BCS operations team, to identify quality and customer issues in relation to the assessment process that has an impact on quality, and follow the established process.
  • Support team members on quality related enquiries and work with BCS CPQT on complaints / malpractices, or similar, ensuring matters are appropriately prioritised and addressed in line with regulatory obligations, BCS policy and established procedures.
  • Support account managers on customer calls in relation to quality matters, providing guidance compliantly, in line with our regulatory obligations.
  • Analyse assessment data from a quality perspective and report monthly on assessment quality in an agreed format.
  • Support wider product quality activities on occasions.
  • Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager/Divisional Director.

Education and qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Experience
  • Significant experience in apprenticeship assessment.
  • Significant experience in working to regulatory and quality frameworks.
  • Significant experience of developing, maintaining and building relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Significant experience of working with customers to support high quality assessments.
  • Significant experience of creating a variety of communications, both verbal and non-verbal.

  • Some out of hours working may be required.
